Bifold Doors

Designed with large floor to ceiling applications in mind, our custom bifold doors combine architectural designs with quality commercial framing and hardware.

Heavy Duty Systems for Architectural & Commercial Projects

Nuline specialises in large-format aluminium door and window systems designed for architectural homes and commercial buildings. Our custom glazed systems can reach over 3 metres in height and are engineered to extend to virtually any width (even 12 panels wide!), creating expansive openings with virtually no size limitations. Every system is made to order with extensive customisation options, including glass selection, configurations, frame styles and finishes.

We use heavy duty top-hung hardware for superior strength, smooth operation and long-term durability, with flush threshold options available for seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. Digital locking solutions can also be integrated for enhanced security and modern convenience, ensuring your project meets both design and performance expectations.

Configuration

Our bifolding doors made in Melbourne can have doors swinging either outwards or inwards and folding in many different configurations. Shown to the right are just a few birds' eye view examples.

As you can see, there is a configuration for every project. We can also include a single opening ‘active’ door for easy everyday access, this is made possible by selecting an odd number of panels sliding in one direction. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can design a French door-style opening in the middle with panels sliding in both directions.

Note: The recommended width for bi fold door panels is 800-1000mm. We can make our bifold designs 3+ meters high and 10+ meters wide.

Colours

We offer our clients a huge range of Dulux, Colorbond and Interpon powder coat colours, as well as anodised metal.

Our Dulux Colour chart, which encompasses most Colorbond colours, can be downloaded here. Our standard is the Duralloy range, but on request we can also do the Precious, RapidCure, Duratec and other colours.

If you would like us to order you a free sample card please contact us so we can arrange it for you.

Handles

Our bifolding doors come with the option of four premium Lockwood handles. Alternatively, if there’s a particular handle you like, we will be happy to see if it fits our door stile.

As standard, our handles come with a Satin Chrome finish. However, not all aluminium bifold doors in Melbourne require handles - if there are an even number of panels going one or both ways, a door handle is not required (see configuration tab above for examples).

Glass Types

We offer a range of glass options – clear, obscure, tinted and energy efficient. All options are available in both single and double glazed safety glass.

In new homes and major renovations, an energy report will suggest the right type of glass for your project needs. If you’d like to see what we can do for your project, you’re welcome to forward a copy of this report with your quote request.

Sill Options

We offer five different sill options for our bi-fold doors - the three sills featured here are the most popular across all our applications.

These sill setups can all be fabricated for flush floor/bench setups giving your space an even smoother transition. The standard reversible sill is our standard and offers you superior sealing when compared to the U-channel sill.

We’d be happy to provide you with free sill offcut samples from our showroom to help you decide your floor/ benchtop rebate preferences.

Top Rolling Hardware

Our bifold doors will smoothly glide open with a single finger. We offer effortless operations to enhance your relaxed living style or busy commercial areas.

All of our bi fold doors are powered by architectural grade stainless steel Centor E2 and E3 top rollers, which have been specifically designed, modelled and tested to use in our aluminium bi-fold door system. These are also regularly tested to exceed the set Australian standards.

Sitting in the head of the bifold panel, these rollers support both inward and outward operations and the weight of each panel is carried and distributed evenly and effectively.

Most recently, the rollers have been upgraded to take an increased weight of between 60kg for E2 rollers and 115kg for E3 rollers, making them sturdier and more reliable option for monolithic configurations.

Locking Bolts

Our bifolding doors made in Melbourne come with offset flush bolts as standard, but we also offer other locking options to secure panels when closed.

The configuration of your bifolds will decide the location of the locking bolts, but as a rule of thumb, each second door will have a locking bolt/handle option built in. Offset flush bolts are located at the top and bottom of the door panels while the dual twin bolt (key or keyless) is usually located in the centre of the bifold stile. Twin bolts do the same thing as our standard offset flush bolts, but operate both bolts in the one combined movement.

Flyscreens

For our architectural doors, we work with retractable insect screen systems to create a stylish and elegant solution to keep the bugs out. The retractable design of the screen means the flyscreen remains hidden in its framework, offering an unobstructed view when open. We use several different brands depending on your preference, budget, and door size - Centor, Freedom, Brio, and Breeza.

Create Effortless Flow

Our aluminium bi-fold doors are designed to maximise space, light and flexibility in both residential and commercial applications. Available in a wide range of configurations, they can be made to open inwards or outwards to suit your layout and project requirements.

Engineered with advanced Weatherseal technology, flush floor sill options and top-rolling hardware, our bi-fold systems deliver smooth, reliable and trouble-free operation. When open, the panels fold away neatly to one side, completely removing barriers and creating seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. When closed, they form strong, secure walls that allow natural daylight to flood the interior.

A stylish and practical alternative to traditional door units, our external aluminium bi-fold doors transform living and working environments. Browse the gallery above to see the impressive impact they can achieve.

FAQ’s

+ Expand All
What is the recommended number of panels in my bifold door?

Generally, we recommend a width of 800-1000mm for each bifold door panel. (Tip: Dividing your opening width by 800 will give you the recommended number of panels). This width (and weight of each panel) is supported by our hardware as bifolds are top hung. Having smaller panels increases the amount of hardware, metal and labour requirements, making the bifolds a more expensive option. In addition, having more panels means more metal obstructing the view, so we advise you to go for wider panels for a better view.

Do you do corner-less (post free) bifold doors?

Yes, we do! Take a look through our bifold door gallery to see the various corner-less doors we have done over the years or you can reach out to our team for further information.
